We enable local Care and Support Providers to facilitate community-led, individual support for happier, more independent living. During this chronic housing shortage, HSPG’s expertise in property portfolio restructuring enables social housing providers to achieve low administration costs and dedicate their resources to provide tenant services and build new social homes.

ESG & Social Impact

HSPG are passionate about playing a lead role in developing ESG and impact standards in the social housing we deliver.

We seek to work with the third sector to enhance the services our partners deliver in the community, both now and in the future. This is to help them to deliver more services to their users, enabling more provision of homelessness, drug and alcohol addiction, mental health and foodbank services. We also reinvest some of our profits into local charities.

Affordable housing is recognised as a universal social good within the Sustainable Development Goals. “Access to adequate, safe and affordable housing” is a core target for Goal 11 Sustainable Cities and Communities.

But housing is not just about ‘bricks and mortar’. Having a decent, affordable home is an important determinant of people’s health and well-being (Goal 3), has a positive effect on children’s education (Goal 4), can help people get and sustain employment (Goal 8) and can provide a route out of poverty (Goal 1). Housing’s carbon footprint can also be reduced through the right energy efficiency and construction measures (Goals 7 and 13).

This asset class naturally lends itself to be positive from an ESG perspective which in turn, provides government support and creates a more robust (lower risk), long-term investment.

Delivering social housing schemes is just the start. We are enabling people to live fulfilled lives in the community. Our team demonstrates HSPG’s ongoing support to many different charities and organisations by spending time helping at food banks, charity events and other community support activities.

We visit our charities, deliver Christmas presents and toys, volunteer at food banks. The team have even got involved with projects such as ‘community clean ups’ and supporting the structure and organisation of communities. The whole office team even went to paint and transform a young girl’s bedroom in December 2020, giving her the Christmas she’d never forget.

Not only do our charity partnerships mean a lot to HSPG as a business, they mean something to each of our team members, which is why we are all so invested in being hands-on with the support.

As a professional who has worked in the drug and alcohol treatment sector, both within the private sector and local authority arena for nearly 20 years, I can’t speak highly enough about the staff team at HSPG.
